The Award Ceremony of the Ethical Architecture Award
Ethical Architecture Award is Dynamo’s and Yac’s project aimed at supporting and awarding an ethical approach to architecture and design in order to reward young people and professionals whose work favors the human and social dimension of architecture. A number of designers from more than 100 countries took part in this initiative, submitting their proposals for the two categories "built" and "imagined". An outstanding jury panel featuring Kazuyo Sejima, Anne Lacaton, Anupama Kundoo, Raul Pantaleo and Vincenzo Manes evaluated the many projects submitted, selecting a shortlist of 24 finalists that have been rewarded with a Honorable Mention. Among them, the project made by Ahmed Saafan for a cultural center built in 2019 in Cairo has been rewarded with the First prize for the "built" category; while the First Prize for the "imagined" category has been awarded to Alberto Roncelli and Nicole Vettore for the concep tidea of a community hub, facility exchange and self repair center in Vienna.
The awarded projects are currently exhibited at Dynamo camp's gallery and the winners have been personally rewarded by the jurors Kazuyo Sejima, Anupama Kundoo and Raul Pantaleo on June 26th and 27th, during an exclusive event at the prestigeous and eclectic headquarters of Dynamo, near Florence. In addition to the Award Ceremony, the event also included a rich program of meetings among the jurors, the contestants and personalities from the non-profit and architectural field in order to encourage creative dialogue and fruitful networking opportunities.
